The Nimba foundation was established in 1994 by Marijke Clabbers-Klein and Nelly Klein. During their travels through Guinea they were struck by the problems with which physical handicapped children and their families were confronted. They realized that elementary help, such as education and vocational training, could make a world of difference.
This idea formed the basis of the Nimba foundation.
Since then the foundation has, in the capital Conakry, set up the training centre: Centre Nimba. A centre which offers the underprivileged and handicapped children the opportunity to provide for themselves in the future.
Since 2021, Centre Nimba is situated at Dubréka.
